Message from the President

WELCOME

Welcome and thanks for your interest in Virginia Highlands Community College.  From our campus in historic Abingdon, VHCC has met the education and training needs for Southwest Virginia and the region for more than 50 years, providing lifelong learning opportunities toward university education and great careers.  Regardless of your goal, our commitment is the same: your success.

Whether you’re a high school student or returning to education later in life, VHCC is a great place to begin or continue your journey.  From dual enrollment courses that offer college and high school credit, to short-term skills training, to two-year technical degrees and transfer pathways that lead to bachelor’s degrees available at area colleges – VHCC provides the education, resources, and connections so every student can succeed. For our business and industry partners, VHCC can even develop and deliver customized training, and we can connect you with qualified graduates ready to help your business grow and thrive in today’s economy.

We’re proud to be deeply rooted in Southwest Virginia, with its abundant natural beauty, rich culture, and generous people.  Students, employees, and our community can enjoy a wide variety of activities like Wolf Grounds Coffee Shop, our disc golf course, and our Arts Array events.  Our campus is also host to the Southwest Virginia Cultural Center and Marketplace, a unique place to see and enjoy regional crafts, music, and more.

Virginia Highlands Community College is for everyone – regional employers, our community, friends and alumni who want to give back, those looking to join our team of committed faculty and staff, and especially our students.  We are a college that loves this region and we are dedicated to student success. I hope you’ll connect with us to find out more.  Welcome to VHCC!
